David Suzuki is coming back for another paddle.Paddle for the Peace organizers confirm the environmentalist will be in attendance and speak at the 10th annual event this weekend, set to launch from the confluence of the Peace and Halfway rivers on July 11.NDP agriculture critic Lana Popham will also attend the event and give a speech before boats will head down the river.- Advertisement -Suzuki and Popham will join Richard Bullock as three high profile speakers. Bullock who was chair of the Agricultural Land Commission for five years before he was abruptly fired in May, just months before his contract was set to expire.This year’s event begins at 9 a.m. with registration and a free pancake breakfast from West Moberly First Nation at the Halfway River Bridge on Highway 29. Registration is $10 and covers the event’s insurance.The paddle will begin at noon, and wrap up at Bear Flat around 2:30 p.m. where Suzuki and Bullock will speak. Halfway River First Nation will also host a free barbecue.Advertisement Those attending are reminded to bring water and sunscreen, along with rain gear and an umbrella. There will be a shuttle bus to bring paddlers back to their cars at the Halfway River bridge.
