  • US issues revised plan for swap trading transparency

first_img Share Tags: NULL KCS-content THE US derivatives regulator set out a revised position on trading platforms and requirements for swaps yesterday. The proposals would make trading in the most popular swaps as transparent as stock exchanges, while trying to ensure that requirements for less popular swaps don’t burden them too far.The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is working to bring the opaque swaps market out of the dark as part of a Wall Street financial overhaul mandated by Congress.Dozens of firms, such as IntercontinentalExchange, hope to qualify as swap trading venues, called swap execution facilities by regulators. The proposal would allow SEFs to have electronic trading systems similar to stock market order books, where bids and offers are continuously updated. But it would not force them to do so, as some feared it would discourage trading in less popular contracts.CTFC chairman Gary Gensler delayed the plans last week after Republicans and industry bodies argued the rules were too inflexible. The new plan fixes most of those issues, several swaps trading outfits said. “We applaud the CFTC for proposing these definitions for the trading of derivatives, and believe that they will increase transparency and create more efficient markets for end-users,” said Lee Olesky, chief executive of Tradeweb, which offers electronic buying and selling of swaps.Republican commissioner Jill Sommers, who criticised the original proposal as too narrow, voted against the plan, voicing concerns that some requirements may limit competition.A 60-day comment period is now open. • Iowa sports betting bill clears Senate

first_img Tags: Mobile Online Gambling Regions: US Iowa Subscribe to the iGaming newsletter 18th April 2019 | By contenteditor The Iowa Senate has voted through a bill that would legalise sports betting and daily fantasy sports (DFS) contests in the state.Senate File 617 passed by a vote of 31-18 and will now head to the House for more discussion and debate. The bill does not yet have a date for its first hearing in the state’s House, though the state’s regular session runs until May 3.SF617 is seeking to permit in-person, online and mobile sports betting in Iowa. Consumers wanting to bet on mobile would need to first register in-person at a licenced venue, but this measure would only be in place until January 1, 2021.Licences to offer sports betting services in the state would each cost $75,000 (£57,580/€66,600), plus an annual renewal fee of $5,000.Operators would be able to enter partnerships with up to two entities to set up additional sites for sports betting, a process commonly known as skin sites. This would only permitted if the third party did not already hold a licence in Iowa.Licence-holders in Iowa would be taxed at a rate of 6.75% of their annual sports wagering net receipts. The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission would assume responsibility for regulation of the market.Betting would be permitted across professional and collegiate sports, but there would be a ban on betting on player performance for athletes representing a college team based in Iowa.Senate File 617 is an evolution of Senate Study Bill 1168, which was filed in the state in February with the aim of legalising wagering on professional and collegiate sporting events at Iowa’s 19 casinos, racetracks and other gambling facilities.Image: Jason Riedy The Iowa Senate has voted through a bill that would legalise sports betting and daily fantasy sports contests in the state. • Bet-at-Home 2019 forecasts unchanged despite Q1 struggles

first_img Tags: Mobile Online Gambling Email Address Casino & games Subscribe to the iGaming newsletter Betclic Everest Group subsidiary Bet-at-Home has reported a 17.9% year-on-year decline in net revenue for the first quarter of 2020, with the business’ performance impacted by novel coronavirus (Covid-19) and struggles in certain markets. However, the company’s management board still expects gross betting and gaming revenue for the year to come in between €120m (£105.6m/$131.2m) and €132m.Gross betting and gaming revenue fell 13.4% to €32.4m, which the operator blamed on the loss of revenue from the re-regulated Swiss market, and a significant decline on the contribution from Poland. After betting fees and gaming levies of €5.6m (up 5.4%) and value added tax of €1.1m (up 32.7%), this left net revenue of €25.5m.This broke down to €11.2m in sports betting revenue – a 6.7% decline – and a €14.3m contribution from online gaming, down 24.9% year-on-year.For sports betting, the operator said it had been impacted by the suspension of almost all global sports from mid-March as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, Bet-at-Home added that the short-term expansion of esports, as well as betting on events in “more exotic” leagues partially offset this decline.Despite this substitution, amounts wagered were down 19.9% to €114.4m.Online gaming, on the other hand, was unaffected by Covid-19, though did face an impact from the Swiss withdrawal and Polish slow-down, with customer states down 17.7% at €563.4m.Bet-at-Home reported €166,000 in other income, down 59.4%, while personnel costs rose 6.5% to €4.9m. Marketing expenditure, as a result of major sporting events including the summer’s Uefa Euro 2020 tournament being postponed, declined 20.1% to €6.6m.The operator said bonus uptake had declined as a result of these suspensions. The Euro 2020 suspension forced it to immediately adjust its marketing agreements to focus on a big push in Q2 2021, when the tournament will now take place.Despite the reduction in advertising, the operator grew its registered customer base to 5.3m as of 31 March, up 3.9%.Other operating expenses declined 13.3% to €5.2m, which left earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of €9.0m, down 28.8%. After depreciation and amortisation charges of €460,000, earnings before interest and tax declined 29.9% to €8.6m.Financial costs of €25,000 left a pre-tax profit of €8.5m, while net profit was down 24.8% at €5.8m once taxes of €2.7m were paid.Despite the business’ Q1 struggles, its management board reiterated its full-year revenue forecast of between €120m and €132m for the 2019 calendar year. It said this would largely be down to the re-regulation of Switzerland, and a significant decline in the Polish market. However, the operator admitted that it could also see German revenue hit as a result of regulatory changes, though as the financial impact could not be quantified, it had not yet been factored into planning.EBITDA for the year is still projected to come in the range of €23m and €27m. Manika Premsingh | Wednesday, 29th July, 2020 | More on: IMB “This Stock Could Be Like Buying Amazon in 1997” Income investors are faced with three challenges in the post-market crash environment. One, there are fewer FTSE 100 dividend stocks to choose from. Many companies withdrew dividends to preserve cash as the economy slid into a recession. Two, the dividend yields are low among those that are still paying a dividend. This is because some companies have reduced their payouts while others already had low dividends. Three, dividend payments are less dependable now. Many companies are still in the woods and there’s no way of knowing how long the slowdown will last. But there are some FTSE 100 companies that still make a great dividend investment. One example is the tobacco biggies. I’m not discounting the ethical concerns related to these companies. But investors who have already invested in these companies, or find themselves on the other side of the debate, may still find takeaways from this. Further, the tobacco companies themselves are trying to re-invent themselves with next-generation products, though these come with their own complications.5G is here – and shares of this ‘sleeping giant’ could be a great way for you to potentially profit!According to one leading industry firm, the 5G boom could create a global industry worth US$12.3 TRILLION out of thin air…And if you click here we’ll show you something that could be key to unlocking 5G’s full potential…Dividend stocks to buyConsider Imperial Brands (LSE: IMB). Even after cutting its dividend by one-third (to repay debt), its dividend yield is still 6%, which is higher than that for most other FTSE 100 stocks. It has also paid dividends for a long time. In fact passive income appears to be the key reason investors find the IMB share attractive. I say this because its share price has been falling for a long time, and that’s the catch to buying the share.Yet, I think buying IMB at the current price may just be a good move. According to the Financial Times, analysts put a low share price estimate for IMB at 1,460p, which is higher than yesterday’s closing price of 1,411p. Further, the average estimate expects the share price to be at 1,800p, which is 25% higher compared to yesterday’s close. In other words, I think for now at least investors can hope to make capital gains with IMB as well as earn an income.British American Tobacco (LSE: BATS) is another dividend stock to consider. It has a higher dividend yield than IMB, at 7.8%. It’s also quite a bit more upbeat than IMB in its latest trading update, which bodes well for dividends going forward. However, there doesn’t seem to be much upside to the BATS share price, going by analyst estimates. In fact,  its share price is already in excess of some analysts’ 12-month targets. This means that this income investment is likely to come at the expense of capital erosion. The takeawayIf as an investor I’m convinced that the BATS share price will rise significantly from its current levels, by all means it sounds like a worthwhile investment with its high dividend yield. Otherwise, I’d much rather go for Imperial Brands.  Click here to claim your copy now — and we’ll tell you the name of this Top US Share… free of charge! Located in a residential area of low density near Valencia, next to a beautiful natural environment with gardens and golf course, and surrounded by homes of great architectural quality. The project, of great geometric and formal rotundity, with a marked aesthetic character, pursues the greatest possible relationship with the natural environment, always respecting privacy with adjoining housing in the longitudinal direction.Save this picture!© Adrian Mora MarotoTo do this, the house is composed of a series of tangent volumes that slide relatively to each other, giving rise to the best possible views from all of them. Each of these volumes -which are also variable in height -is delimited by two walls of concrete in titanium gray in the longitudinal direction, and by large glazing in a transversal direction. In this way, the necessary opacity and privacy is generated to the neighboring plots, while the view towards the gardens and the golf course is facilitated. It presents a clear contrast between concrete as a solid, heavy element, and glazing as a permeable and light element.Save this picture!Ground floor planSave this picture!First floor planEach block corresponds to a specific use of the program, appropriating for continuity the contiguous external space, and generating great wealth in the relationships between tangent inner spaces. Each block, each use, will have different heights in correspondence with the program and the surface served.Outside, in addition to porch and pool as sixth and seventh blocks, we find an extension to the home of the adjacent gardens and golf course, avoiding any barrier that breaks the continuity.Save this picture!© Adrian Mora MarotoThe program of uses, clearly differentiated by levels, has a basement with parking and leisure areas, lit naturally by a large patio tangent to the third volume. The ground floor has a service area in the first block, a hall in the second, a kitchen in the third, a dining room in the fourth, and a living room in the fifth; all of them being open spaces, tangents and with different height. Then, porch with cantilever in double direction and pool tangent to the porch. The second floor includes the sleeping area, with bedrooms in the first volume, double height distributor in the second, master bedroom in the third, and terrace in the fourth.Save this picture!© Adrian Mora MarotoThe landscaped exteriors, with the strength of the titanium gray concrete walls and the large black aluminum glazing, contrast with the subtlety and warmth of the interior spaces, solved with natural oak flooring, vertical white paneling, and absolutely pure white roofs with indirect lighting. In the center of the house, and next to the double height entrance hall, the stairway, made of steel folded in black, is developed.
